Why you should join Boosters
With 46 teams representing Jefferson in 19 sports, from freshman to varsity levels, nearly half of our students take part in one or more interscholastic sports. However, Fairfax County only pays for coaches' salaries, officials' compensation, field lighting, and bus transportation to regular season games, and district and regional tournaments. All other expenses associated with the athletic program must be funded by the individual schools. This comes from sources such as gate receipts, vending machines and athletic booster organizations.
Over the past seven years, the Colonial Athletic Boosters have invested over $531,000 in the Jefferson athletic program. This money has been spent on maintaining and improving playing fields and facilities, purchasing uniforms and warm up suits, sending coaches to clinics, sending athletes and coaches to state and national events, purchasing awards and supplies and a wide variety of equipment for every athletic team. A substantial part of the funds required to fund the above comes from membership dues. Any level of financial and/or volunteer support is appreciated.
