Varsity Cheer News
The Varsity Cheerleading squad will compete at Liberty District Semis on October 20th, at 6:30 p.m., at South Lakes High School. Then on October 27th, at 6:30 p.m., they will compete at the Liberty District finals at Fairfax High School. Come out and support the cheerleaders!!
Captain of the Varsity squad this year is Amanda Gilbert. The squad has 17 members including 10 seniors. Seniors will be honored on Senior night at the last home game of the season on October 30th. Seniors this year are: Maddy Byrd, Nora Gayer, Amanda Gilbert, Adrea Jackson, Hyun Ji, Victoria Kedzie, Dayoung Ko, Christy Moore, Minh Nguyen and Cheng Xu. Other members of the squad include Michelle Gahagan, Priya Krishnan, Lucia Melgarejo, Daniella Miller, Jane Pak, Emily Saitta and Kathy Shi. The squad is coached by Melissa and Jessica Barg.
The Varsity Cheer Squad welcomes back coaches Melissa and Jessica Barg for another great year of TJ Cheer! Try outs were held in August and a team of 17 girls were selected for the Varsity Cheer Squad and Competition Team. In August the girls attended a UCA private Cheer Camp held at TJ and began to work on their competition routine. The girls cheer for the Varsity football team on Friday nights and train during the week and on Saturdays for their upcoming competitions.
The TJ Varsity Cheerleaders will compete at the District competitions in October. District Semi's will be held at South Lakes on October 20th and District Finals will be held at Fairfax on October 27th. Come on out and cheer on the cheerleaders. Check the Colonial Athletic Booster Website for the exact times.
JV Cheer News
The squads have held fundraisers to raise money for both the Colonial Athletic Boosters and to purchase additional uniforms. The first fundraiser was the sale of 'cheer buttons'. Sale of buttons is ongoing, get yours today. You will see parents proudly wearing their buttons at football games and competitions. The second fundraiser was a car wash on Saturday, September 19th which helped the team raise over $700. The third fundraiser was the sale of Gianni food products.
A second try out was held for the Junior Varsity Cheerleading squad the first week of school. Two additional team members were selected bringing the total members on the team to 10. The Captain of the JV squad this year is Jane Hu. Members of the squad include Karina Charipova, Joowon Choi, Ashley Hwang, Anna Knight, Anna Li, Nikki Pangilinan, Srishti Shrivastava, Tiffany Wu and Andrew Yang. The fall JV squad is coached by Carolyn Wilson.

An additional try out will be held in the fall for the JV Cheer Squad. The girls will cheer for the JV football team on Thursday nights and train during the week.
