Match No. 4 host Madison

In a match delayed 24 hours due to rain, TJ prevailed 5-4 against a strong Madison playing without its No. 1. So TJ's No. 1 (Edwin Zhang) had the "easy" day posting a 10-0 in Singles and a 10-1 in Doubles (w/Spencer Clark).

TJ picked up additional Singles 10-5 wins at No. 2 (Spencer Clark) and No. 3 (Matt Shepard), and 10-8 at No. 5 (Rohan Siddhanti) . No. 4 (Sean Cheng) and No. 6 (Glen Hookey) fought hard but came up short at 8-10 and 7-10 respectively.

TJ won the match with the Zhang/Clark Doubles. No. 2 (Shepard/Hookey) and No. 3 (Siddhanti/Chris McPherson) fell 5-10 and 8-10 respectively.

TJ at McLean — 3/28/08

TJ traveled to McLean and "swept" 9-0 in a well-played (and very windy) match. Noteworthy was the win at No. 2 (Spencer Frei) who came from down 1-4 to win 10-7 as he stood in at that position. Other Singles results: No. 1 (Edwin Zhang) 10-4; No. 3 (Matt Shepard) 10-6; No. 4 (Sean Cheng) 10-6; No. 5 (Rohan Siddhanti) 10-3; No. 6 (Glen Hookey) 10-2.

Doubles: No. 1 (Zhang/Frei) 10-4; No. 2 (Shepard/Hookey) 10-4; No. 3 (Siddhanti/Chris McPherson) 10-4.

TJ vs Stone Bridge — 3/26/08

TJ opened its "home" season at Mason District Park with a 9-0 win against Stone Bridge. No. 1 (Edwin Zhang) and No. 6 (Spencer Frei) each blanked their opponents 10-0, while Nos. 2-5 (Spencer Clark, Matt Shepard, Sean Cheng, Rohan Siddhanti) each dropped only 1 game, with 10-1 victories.

Since the match was "decided," the Doubles contests were shortened by mutual agreement. No. 1 (Zhang/Clark) and No. 3 (Siddhanti/Chris McPherson) finished at 6-0 each, and No. 2 (Shepard/Glen Hookey) finished at 6-1. With temperatures near 70 degrees, the match was quite a contrast to the Langley contest less than 48 hours earlier.

TJ @ Langley — 3/24/08

Jefferson Boys Tennis opened its 2008 season with a 6-3 win over district rival Langley — including a 10-8 victory at No. 1 (Edwin Zhang). TJ jumped out in front with matching 10-2 wins at No. 2 (Spencer Clark) & No. 3 (Matt Shepard), then dropped No. 4 (Sean Cheng) & No. 5 (Rohan Siddhanti) 7-10 & 6-10 respectively. Then came Edwin's hard-fought win, and a tiebreaker loss at No. 6 (Glen Hookey) 10-11(2-7).

So, tied at three in singles, TJ needed to win two of the three doubles contests to achieve a match win. No. 1 (Zhang/Clark) prevailed 10-3, and victory was secured by No. 2 (Shepard/Spencer Frei) 10-2. As darkness fell and the temperature dropped into the 40s, No. 3 (Siddhanti/Chris McPherson) persevered and came from behind (at one point down 2-7) to win 11-9.
