Varsity Soccer Wins 2 of 3
The TJ Women's soccer team started the season with two wins in their first three games. After a season opening 1-0 loss to Lee the women bounced back to throttle Annandale 4-0.
During that game senior Allison Hegel opened the scoring with a swerving 20 yard shot that the Annandale keeper had no chance to stop. Allison went on to score a hat trick (3 goals). Senior Trish Nguyen scored the other goal on a nice feed from fellow senior Ariel Schwartz.
TJ won an exciting home opener on March 29 against Herndon 2-1. After jumping to 1-0 lead on another Allison Hegel goal in the 20th minute, Herndon tied the score near the end of the first half. The second half went back and forth and the game seemed likely to go into overtime. But in the last minute of regulation, junior Kayley Sullivan dribbled about 20 yards and noticed that the Herndon goalie was off her line. She kicked a ball from about 35 yards that went over the keeper's head and into the net. No overtime, a TJ victory.
After a March 31 game against Yorktown, the women start divisional play on April 4 at Langley.
