End of Season Report
The varsity field hockey team compiled a regular season record of 8-7-1 and
finished tied for third place in the Liberty District. However, the season
came to a disappointing end when the Colonials lost their play-in game 0-1
to McLean after having defeated the Highlanders 2-0 earlier in the fall.
The Liberty District proved at least as challenging as the Concorde had been
in field hockey, as the top two district finishers, Woodson and Marshall,
went on to become the regional runner-up and champion.
The team was led by seven seniors, including co-captains Ruth Isenstadt and
Rachel Miller, and starters Cheli Bleda, Chelsea Cantrell, Tracy Kovach,
Marisa Paska, and Gina Siddiqui. They were ably complemented by juniors and
sophomores Mary Carol Anderson, Carrie Bauer, Shannon Casey, Susan Clark,
Erin Hopke, Julie O’Brien, Emily Prentice, Katie Sourbeer, and Shannon
Sullivan. Next year will see big changes in TJ field hockey as the players
don protective goggles (required for all teams as of January 1), move to
the football field, and play their home games at night.
Making the All-District teams were Ruth Isenstadt & Marisa Paska (1st
team) and Cheli Bleda, Chelsea Cantrell, and Rachel Miller (2nd team). All-Regional
designees were Ruth Isenstadt (1st team) and Marisa Paska (2nd team).
