Varsity Colonials defeated Fairfax Rebels on the road, 61-47. This was truly a team win. With 3 players on the bench in foul trouble and Fairfax pulling
away, a supporting cast of players dug in and weathered the storm through
tough defense and rebounding. Senior, Allie Griswold led all scorers with
20 points, most from long range jumpers. Junior, Julie Miller had a strong
third quarter, scoring 7 of her 11 points after sitting out most of the
first half because of foul trouble.

7 DecVarsity Lady Colonials dropped their home opener to the Lady Cavaliers, 49-61. Colonials had a slow first quarter but started putting things together in the
second. However, the second quarter shooting of Cavalier Jr. Mary Klavin
(four 3-pointers) really took it's toll. Julie Miller lead the Colonials with
15 points and freshman Maddie Regan had 10. Sarah Train and Allie Griswold
had 11 and 10 rebounds respectively.

11 Dec VarsityLady Colonials dropped a close hard fought game at home to the # 9 Lady Bruins, 52-55. Julie Miller lead the Colonials with 19 points and freshman Lizzie Tallent added 13. Lady Colonials plan on evening it's record to 2-2 on Friday @ home against Marshall.
14 Dec Lady Colonials even record at 2-2 defeating Marshall 46-35 at home on Friday. High scorers for TJ were Julie Miller (13) with 4 blocked shots, and freshman Lizzie Tallent (10) and Maddie Regan (9). Up next are back to back road games with Centerville and Annandale.
17 Dec Lady Colonials (3-2) defeat Lady Wildcats 55-41 in District opener at Centreville. Leading the Lady Colonials were freshman Maddie Regan 10 points and 10 rebounds, senior Allie Griswold 12 points and junior Julie Miller 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals.
18 Dec TJ improves it's record to 4-2 as 10 players score in a road win over Lady Atoms. Freshman guard Lizzie Tallent led all scorers with 17 pts. Allie Griswold contributed 9 pts while Julie Miller added 8 pts and 14 big rebounds.
04 Jan Colonials (5-5, 1-1) lose a tough conference game to Chargers (8-2, 2-0) at home. The game was tied at the half at 23. Colonials led most of the second half by as much as 4 but committed untimely turnovers down the stretch. Freshman Maddie Regan led Colonials with 12 pts. Also scoring in double figures were Lizzie Tallent 11 pts, Julie Miller 11 pts and Allie Griswold 10 pts. Alena Koshansky and Kimi Argy led the Chargers with 25 and 14 pts. respectively.
08 JanAfter trailing at the half 33-29, TJ defeats South Lakes 68-57. Jr. Julie Miller had a huge game with 29 pts, 13 boards and 3 blocks. Maddie Regan had 15 pts and 9 boards while Sr. Sheila Majdi added 9 pts and senior leadership down the stretch. TJ improves to 2-1 in the Concorde District.
11 Jan After a dreadful 2nd quarter (4 pts), TJ trailed at the half by 3. TJ managed only 8 pts in the 4th and shot 5/16 from the line as the Hornets buried free throws down the stretch. Leading scorer's for TJ were Julie Miller 15 pts and Lizzie Tallent 13 pts. Brenna Clerkin 2 pts, 6 rebounds; Allie Griswold 6 pts, 5 rebounds; Maddie Regan 6 pts, 8 rebounds; Stepanie Smisko 2 pts.
15 Jan TJ goes 10/10 from the line in the 4th period to salvage the road win. Julie Miller's 22 pts (10 in final period), 10 rbds, 5 stls led the way. Maddie Regan added 10 pts
18 Jan Lady Colonials fall to #18 Oakton Cougars in a low scoring defensive game 31-27. Colonials were led by Maddie Regan 8 pts, 6 rebounds, Julie Miller 7 pts, 8 rebounds and Sarah Train with 6 big rebounds.
25 Jan TJ goes to 4-3 in district play in a closely contested game 54-50 over Centreville. Top performers for TJ were Julie Miller 18 pts, 7 rebounds, Maddie Regan 15 pts, 11 rebounds, Lizzie Tallent 9 pts, and Sheila Majdi 7pts and 5 big steals. TJ is 4-3 in a very competitive Concorde District.
29 Jan Down 3 at the half, Colonials (8-8, 4-4) sputter offensively (8 pts) in the 3rd quarter and fall to #16 Chantilly 61-48. Julie Miller scored 19 pts, and in her first varsity start, Jr. Sarah Train came up big with 12 pts, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
01 FebFor the first time this season, the Lady Colonials dropped back to back district games. TJ 49 - South Lakes 64. South Lakes came out fired up and the Colonials came out flat. Down 13 at the half, the Colonials fought back and got to within 6 in the 4th quarter. Costly turnovers (22) and missed free throws (12/28) were our worst enemy. Julie Miller led the way for the Lady Colonials with 24 points, including three 3's.
05 Feb We lost to Herndon 55-51. We were down by 1 at the half, dug ourselves a hole in the 3rd and entered the 4th down 12. The girls fought back with everything they had and got it to within 2 with a chance to tie but ran out of time. Julie Miller and Lizzie Tallent were top scorers with 15 & 10 points respectively.
08 FebWestfield defeats TJ on Senior Night 54-40. TJ had a 2 point lead going into the 4th quarter, 35-33. TJ comitted 10 turnovers in the period and scored only 5 points as the Bulldogs went on their run. Julie Miller and Maddie scored 14 and 12 points respectively and both had 9 rebounds.
12 Feb TJ drop it's 5th in a row to Oakton 62-44. Julie Miller scored 18 points including three 3 pointers and had 8 rebounds. Lizzie Tallent had 10 points. TJ is currently in a tie for 5th place in the Concorde.
15 Feb TJ holds it's own in the first half against highly ranked #1 West Springfield, trailing by 15. TJ's defense played really tough, especially inside, but the Spartans were red hot from long range in it's 76-41 defeat of TJ. Freshman Maddie Regan led the Colonials with 14 points. Junior Laura Tallent scored her first points of the season with a 7 foot jumper. TJ travel to Herndon in the first round of the District Tournament on Tuesday at 7:30.
19 Feb The Lady Colonials saved their best for last. The season ended on an extremely high note, a 61-59 overtime loss to Herndon. The Lady Colonials finished the season 8-14, 4-8. The first round of the Concorde District Tournament paired TJ with #3 Herndon. From start to finish, it was a game filled with intense defense, great offensive execution and a dozen or more lead changes or ties ultimately, overtime and ultimately a last second shot that falls short of it's mark for the Lady Colonials. There were different players stepping up throughout the game. Julie Miller finished with a double-double, 23 points and 12 rebounds. The three freshmen were unbelievably poised in their first tournament game. Maddie Regan fished with 19 points, Kendall Stone 11 points and Lizzie Tallent 6 points, 4 assists. The future looks bright for TJ.
